The UAB Neuroscience Laboratory of Social Behavior

A severe and debilitating loss of social functioning is pervasive across many psychiatric and neurological disorders. Despite considerable efforts to find ways to treat or mitigate the effects of deficits in social functioning, little satisfactory progress has been made.

Our Mission

The Neuroscience Laboratory of Social Behavior aims to understand cross-diagnostic mechanisms of poor social functioning which can be linked to underlying pathophysiological processes and may, in turn, lead to the development of effective treatments for social dysfunction. With this goal in mind, our on-going projects focus on identifying key mechanisms of social dysfunction cross-diagnostically and throughout the lifespan using innovative neuroscientific tools.
